A few helpful hints to make your Orlando Holiday as stress free as possible.
At the risk of stating the obvious the Currency is the U.S. Dollar however traveller’s cheques are accepted at most outlets. Just take your passport as proof of I.D. Don’t worry if you don’t have the correct denominations, as it is also a great way to save a trip to the bank, as you will get change back. Make sure that you have U.S. Dollar traveller’s cheques, as it is very difficult to use Sterling traveller’s cheques.
Credit Cards
Credit cards are widely used and most outlets accept Visa and MasterCard. You will find that if you have hired a car then the car hire firm will want to take an imprint of your credit card when you pick your car up. Don’t panic this is normal. In a lot of cases Credit Cards are more acceptable than cash. They are particularly useful when it comes to paying for gas, that’s petrol to you and I.
Electrical System
The electrical system is a 110-volt flat pin system. Hairdryers and an iron are provided in the house so you don’t need to pack your own.
Alcohol
Florida’s drink laws are strictly enforced. If you are under 21, or even look under 21 you will not be sold alcohol. Also it against the law to carry alcohol in the passenger area of the car, so remember if you have been shopping for the evening refreshments to put it in the trunk, that’s the boot.
Driving
Driving in Florida is easy the roads are generally wide and uncrowded with lots of directions to the attractions. Petrol is about $1.80 a gallon and don’t forget to keep a supply of quarters for the road tolls.
Eating Out
Eating out in Florida is almost a hobby for some. There is an incredible selection to choose from. There is every conceivable type of food served in Florida from The Golden Arches of the Big Mac to fine restaurants and everything in between. The all you care to eat buffets are excellent value and range from about $5 for breakfast and lunch to $15 for evening meals. Seafood is excellent.
Shopping
You can shop till you drop or run out of money, whichever comes first. There are excellent bargains to be had at the outlet Malls. Don’t forget that the price you see isn’t the price you pay. That is relevant to all shops and restaurants. There is State tax to be added to the price but it is still a shoppers dream. Tipping is expected and is the rule rather than the exception. If you work on 15% then you will be about right.
Public Holidays
